Refined ruggedness, from a farm above the coast.
It started with a table on a hill.
Olive trees, a dry-stone wall, the sea somewhere below. We cooked there every weekend before we ever thought about selling anything.
The good things were the useful things.
The knife that held its edge. The board that took a beating. The lantern that came on at dusk and turned a meal into an evening. Those became the first ORVIK products.
The farm is the origin, not the limit.
Meat and kitchen first. Then carriers, blankets, apparel, food from the land, and eventually evenings you can book. All of it has to earn a place at that table.
Products with a genuine purpose, shown being used.
A knife should not appear against a white background. It should be cutting meat, herbs or bread on a wooden board with the fire behind it. That is how we photograph everything, and it is how we decide what to sell.
The materials do the branding. Olive canvas, espresso leather, wool, wood, brass, steel and stone. Scratches, grain, smoke and a little dirt are welcome. Fake vintage effects are not.
